Gay Married Spouses Denied Health Benefits

You'd think that in a state like Massachusetts that has a same-sex marriage law a spouse would automatically receive any spousal benefits through the partner's employee health insurance provider. However, it appears as if some companies have managed to find a way around giving those benefits to individuals.

Check out this Indianapolis Star article for a small peak at a partial article circulated through the Associated Press. I'm certain if you are interested in more information, you can find the full article through their website.

It amazes me how some people will do anything to deny equal rights to all citizens in our country, especially when those rights are protected by state law. As with all fights for equal rights, it will be a long process before gay married couples, even in Massachusetts, will be able to enjoy the same rights as heterosexual couples.

And you can Quote me on that. The Quotable Queer
