Gay Gathering Brings Healthier Focus

So much focus is oftentimes placed on someone's relationship status in the gay community. Of course those long-lasting relationships that carry on for years are certainly something to be cherished; the single life should be equally cherished. There is sometimes such a rush for people to enter a relationship and end the single life that the relationship just cannot handle the weight placed on it so early on in its development.

Tonight, it was refreshing to have a Valentine's Day gay gathering not so focused on relationship status and more centered around living and enjoying life. Perhaps, the tide is finally turning with regards to the community values surrounding relationships and being single. As I always have said, I'd rather be single and have a place open in my life for the best man to enter at the right time.

Having a gathering on this "holiday" not turn into a depression and pity party was the best gift anyone could give themselves. I didn't hear anyone obsess about being single or really for that matter being in a relationship. Resisting the temptation to do that is a sure sign of happier days to come. I suggest a focus on living and enjoying life to anyone; it can definitely assist in improving one's quality of life.

And you can Quote me on that. The Quotable Queer
