The Civil Rights War of OUR Time
There is a reason there is a civil rights war and that there are civil rights leaders. The reason is because the majority of people within the minority are afraid, unwilling, or feel unable to act upon fear of reprisal, violence, bigotry.
The bold few must stand together with the full knowledge that they will not always agree on tactics, words, or ideas. The important thing is to stand up for yourself and what you believe in . . . BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME.
Arguing with people that act indifferent to our fight, our cause is a waste of time and energy. Just doing the work to get the message out continuously and in many different forms will add people to OUR civil rights movement. This is the time where we must draw the line in the sand. Enough is enough. We already don't have equal rights nor equal treatment. We are sure the hell not going to accept etching this into the state constitutions nor the U.S. Constitution.
I believe looking at this in a two-party way is flawed because some Democrats are against us. We need supporters in those seats irregardless of party, race, or creed. We need to not only support our supporters, but educate those against us. We will gain some support through those education efforts. To not attempt to gain that support from people in power would be foolish. Putting all of our eggs in the Democrat basket is a mistake.
This is not the time to shy away from public arenas. We need a constant and persistent public presence everywhere. We can make it happen. We only need courage to give others the courage to stand with us.
And you can Quote me on that. The Quotable Queer
